Listening to every heart

0 posted 2001-08-29 09:59 PM

Raintree Me

you come into spring first of green
a gift you were, Johnny’s dream
branches spread in sheer delight
in June you become golden bright

legend holds that those who find
Raintrees shall grasp in kind
all their dreams to come true
so sit with me, enjoy the view

inviting birds, bees, butterflies
a harbor of health, wealth and wise
soon golden rains shall come forth
hearts of paper lanterns bring north

winds to come, blow all away
your work is done, you shall not stay
but spring is promise, soon reborn
for legends hold, and you are sworn

to bring luck, happiness, all one’s dreams
as secrets are held in your golden beams

Karilea,

This is such a pretty poem.  We so often take for granted the wonder of nature's gifts.  Obviously, you don't.

I've heard of Raintree County, but I had no idea there was actually a tree called a raintree. The blossoms on it are beautiful as is your poem.

This one section I had trouble following:

"soon golden rains shall comes forth
hearts of paper lanterns bring north"

is there an extra letter or a word missing or my brain, LOL  After all, I called my neighbor last night and asked if I'd left my head rolling around their house yesterday.

Love the poem Sunshine...I think we all have a special tree, it may be a huge oak a stately maple or a "raintree".  The older I get the more special things of the past become.

Sunshine, Thankyou for bringing back memories of Raintree County. Such as, "look at the birdy, look at the tree, my girl's the prettiest in the whole county." Remember the photo taking session? Hugs for that one.
