Crimson and gold
are colors so bold
they jump out
and shout
Hello to you.

Green and blue
sometimes can be cold or cool,
like icy blue streams
and pillowy green moss,
or scrumptious plump blueberries
near swaying willow trees of pea-soup green,
that turn sunny gold when days become cold.

Red raspberries sweet and yummy
with milk will fill up your tummy
with such happiness and warmth
you would think they were as yellow
as banana peels or tart lemon.

Of course there are so many other
flavors and scents
that color our world,
it takes a rainbow of tasty treats,
the kind that fall from windy wrappers
after a thunderous rainstorm
to begin to describe the color wheel.

And the aurora?
I call it my Rainbow Dancing Lights,
and the blues, greens, reds and purples
that swirl and dance amid soft creamy whites
in winter's midnight blue Arctic sky
are such a magnificent color ballet,
if I could I would
send one your way today
to encircle your body and soul
with soft,warm golden dreams.

This is for Jaime in Denver, who can see and feel colors with his heart, touch, and imagination, and who is fascinated with weather phenomenon.

Lady in White, Janet Marie, and Paula:
Thanks for reading this, and for the kind words. Paula, I didn't know Jaime until yesterday. He emailed me after reading my humorous poem called "Personals Ad". Jaime is blind, surfs the net for weather info in braile, and said he has always been interested in Alaska. I've been meaning to do something with an aurora theme, and Jaime's excitement about Arctic weather has inspired me to really look at things more closely, and to work on improving the imagery in my poems to make it possible for others to see the aurora through  taste, touch, smell, and imagination. Yes, Jaime is great! Thanks, Jaime, for inspiring me to do better. I'll try my best to show you the beauty of the Arctic wonderlands.

What a cool thing to say...calling something I wrote a symphonie of color. I am happy to have any complement like that. Have you read the one I put in Analysis (that's what I call it) it is entitled Spelunker, and I'd like your feedback on that one when you have time. Thanks, Kacy
