i was wrong

i thought that I
could live in the moment--
i thought that I
could taste briefly of beauty
i thought that I
could just let it go
i thought that I
could say, "come easy, go easy..."
i thought that I
now knew discernment...
i thought that I
could handle it...
I thought that i
was different.

i thought that I
was special---
i was wrong again...

(for my reference of "come easy, go easy"--I felt some credit was due to another author:
http://lifesci.ucsb.edu/~haddock/poems/archy.html

I hope this is okay.)

Our heart will always lead us astray...I thought I could live without it, but I find I can't...you inspire ME.

geez girl, well done.  but of all the people to call themselves not special, it certainly should not be you!!!

Most of my problems come from thinking,
I like your poetry, and this poem,
But,
You have it viewed slightly off;
if you’ll indulge an old man

i thought that I
could live in the moment—
and I found the moment more meaningful

i thought that I
could taste briefly of beauty
and I found beauty all around me

i thought that I
could just let it go
and I found I wasn’t even holding on

i thought that I
could say, "come easy, go easy..."
and learned that saying doesn’t make it so

i thought that I
now knew discernment...
and saw more behind what is plain to see

i thought that I
could handle it...
and learned I needed a hand

I thought that i
was different.
And there I found truth

Perception is mostly or learning and beliefs.

Take care,
Gloom

Thanks to all, for putting up with my pissed off poetry...especially you, Gloom. I like what you did...I only wish that I had done it. a MUCH better attitude than mine!

and I'd like to recommend the archy and mehitabal series by Don Marquis. It's very enjoyable...muchos gracias!!!

Serenity, such a sad poem.  I think we've all felt this way at least once...the important thing is not to stay in that frame of mind. Most people's biggest fear seems to be that they aren't special.  I personally, think it's more of a shame not to make a difference. Your poem makes a difference.  If nothing else, it shows others that they are not alone in what they feel.

With Professor Gloom's added lines, it becomes a very uplifting verse.
