He walked in from the summer heat,
The sun blazed like a flame.
The waitress brought his water-
And eyed his slender frame.

She said, "I'm Bonnie Parker"...
What can I get for you?"
He said, "I'll take the special-
And, Sugar, I'll have you."

He said, "We'll hit the big time,
I'll give you wealth and fame!
I'll buy you gold and diamonds-
Or, Clyde Barrow's not my name!"

She scoffed at what he told her-
And sort of hurt his pride.
He opened up his jacket,
And motioned to his side...

A pistol in his waistband-
She saw the oily frame,
He said, "We'd make a pair, girl-
Or, Clyde Barrow's not my name!"

He taught her about weapons-
"This is a thirty-eight,
Aim for the center-body,
And never hesitate."

He then picked up a Thompson-
Said, "Here's a forty-five,
When she speaks, she clears the streets
And few are left alive."

He said, "We'll go together-
I promise you'll have fame...
And if we're not a house-hold word
Clyde Barrow's not my name."

clever, i liked it. The end was a bit vague though, maybe another stanza to wrap it up?

They became a house-hold word, that's for sure. What price fame? I guess some folks will do anything for it. Great writing, John, as always!

Slinger~
I really enjoyed this !
You sure can tell the tales in an intriguing fashion.

Bonnie Parker was a poet -
and I hope you don't mind me adding a link here
to a couple of her pieces~

Marge...thanks for including that link in

enjoyed them very much.
