Still,
Brown eyes with hazel
captured me without a smile
As you,
in unusual fashion,
began to tell me
of the things the day had brought
and finally of the shadows
I had seen inside you...

you spoke of a father
who was too free with hands
and of a mother
to weak to understand

I listened,
heart bleeding
anger building,
with each telling
wanting to comfort
or save you,
but you were not ready for saving.

Dusk turned to stars
as you, talked out,
took my hand and asked
if we could go sit in the loft
just for a while
just for a smile.

I followed your lead
until it led my hand
to the place between your legs
and you whispering

"please"

I kissed you,
then as gently as I could
told you
I was not your father
you did not have to do this
for me to care

You cried then

Leaving the tears
To stain my memory
Still

Absolutely heartbreaking. A poignant rendering of compassion and understanding. Completely powerful my friend.

Deca.. thank you

Janet... Yes much could be said about abuse... and much has.. thank you for the nice words..

Serenity... thank you kind lady...for the comment and the thoughts

Martie... come her you old softy.. I'll hug you ( with an evil grin)

Thank you Martie...

Folks.... this was a long long time ago..and I was the very close to the same age as the young girl...so I was not the father figure sought by a younger girl then. I did later in life have the experience of dealing with a family member... that had been molested and came to stay with me..she was terribly confused and hurt...terribly vulnerable... We tried couseling, intervention..and all the things we could...but she chose to seek a path in life that has only amplified her pains and problems... my heart goes out to all that may have faced such situations...

Thanks for the comments...and now...I have said all I can say about this...

I'm sorry, but my only response that comes to mind right now is also Wow! If I think of something else, I'll be back.

This is one of the tenderest pieces
on a tough subject I've ever read.

I'd like to double that hug~

Powerfully written CPat ... you've tacked a difficult subject with sensitivity and eye-opening awareness that strikes hard through these lines. Well done.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Dear C, I sincerely sit here in gratitude for the compassion and courage of this verse, and reality blink of this crisis. It's hard to write about the transgressions of those who violate the innocent. Even harder to imagine the victim's pain and know of it up close. Thank you for trying to direct the wounded to a path of healing. Big Hug to you.

Sincerely,
Regina

Sometimes a person is fortunate enough to encounter just the right person at just the right time. She found such a person that day and I honor you for your compassion. I also salute you for a magnificent poem.

In my travels through myriad poetic web sites it amazes me how world wide spread this problem is. Ordinarily the victim either becomes promiscious or so frigid and frightened they cannot maintain a normal loving relationship. You responded as a real and strong man would. I salute you.

Well,  it appears as though I have opened the door to writing and posting about abuse. Good.   This can no longer be kept silent.  SILENCE PROMOTES ABUSE.  Very tender piece here.

I have watched over the last few years as several here at Passions have had to deal with this matter.  Several have tried to put it across, but none so well as you have done...

you've shown both sides, and I salute your endeavors to keep lines of communication open....

yours is a heart flung wide open.
