Poor Mouthed

To both sides I've paid my lot
ringing with earnest emotion
Bending like the reeds
swayed by the season's bluster
love winds taking me by storm
Boastful and proud of the houses built
then dried in crying for their tumble
At one moment a king on his mount
and the next a sullen wretch for whom
there is no restoration
Silver memories draw further away
while poor mouthed breaths efface
the gleam on the few coins I have remaining
Quickly to the slot of souls
I wish their clatter to mark a new beginning

A wistful deposit, a woeful account, a wishful interest, a worthy amount. Enjoyed.

"Dream of days when work was scrappy,
Rare in our pockets the mark of mint,
We were angry and poor and happy,
And proud of seeing our names in print"
