I wrote a poem for my mothers 90th birthday /pip/Forum50/HTML/001873.html
and this is her answer to your replies on that one

I promised you to tell you all
about my mother's ninetiest ball
It was hard work but so much fun
except of course that burning sun

About fifty people attended there
flowers scattered everywhere
not all her friends we did meet
some were bothered by the heat

One of my sisters made the food
wich was getting them in the mood
the other decorated the whole place
wich gave her a very hot red face

Henk and I made a picture carousel
from then till now, looking quite well
The present she got was put within
a computerchair given by all her kin

I printed the answers you gave me
on the first poem so she could see
She was touched and wept a tear
and this is her answer to you dear

Dear friends of my daughter Titia

I've endured the storm. Like the blosoms of the trees I let all the love and friendship fall down upon me.
My home looks and smells like a flowergarden. I'll never forget what our three daughters did for me this day. I was deeply touched by your replies to Titia's beautiful poem for my ninetiest birthday. The possibility of doing all that on the computer always amazes me. I wonder if I will ever be able to express my gratitude to you on the computer myself one day. Life is such a big mystery and I'm so grateful that I'm alowed to take part in it all.
In my thoughts I HUG you all.

Dear Mom of Titia,
Your letter really warmed my heart.
I see such radiance in your smile,
And reflections of your daughter's heart.

She a a "chip off of the young block",
That is so very plain to see,
As I look at your beautiful smile of love,
I see some of Titia looking back at me.

If I even even look 1/2 as good,
At ninety as you do my dear,
On every single wall in my house,
I shall install a great big mirror!

So stylish, and adorable,
And your turned 90 you say?
Well I would say by looking at you,
That you are are here to stay!

I am really looking forward to seeing you on the pages here, now that you have that comfy chair to sit in front of your computer.  Next thing, we will hear Titia saying you bought a motorcycle, lol.

God Bless you and again, Happy Birthday!

your mother is a Poet, Titia...

Here is her poem from the comments above

quote:

I've Endured the Storm

I've endured the storm!
Like the blossoms of the trees,
I let all the love and friendship
Fall down upon me.
My home looks and smells
Like a flower garden.
I'll never forget what
Our three daughters
Did for me this day.
I was deeply touched.
Life is such a big mystery.
I'm so grateful that
I'm alowed to take part in it all.

I've endured the storm
And I am grateful.

Titia's Mom- You are truly a beautiful lady and have a wonderful, loving family. I can see where Titia got her kind and gentle  nature. Your comments were so very poetic, I thought you might like to read them broken into lines in verse. Could you write some more for us?

Titia- This is a lovely tribute! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

You sweeties you, I know she will enjoy this.

Yes, she writes poetry too and proze. At the moment she is writing down the little bedtime stories she used to tell us and our children on her computer for her greatgrandchildren to read later.
It's about the adventures of a little dime. When she is finished I'll turn it into a little book.

I'll try and see if I can translate some of her poems for you, for she does understand some English but she's not able to write it.

Thank you so much for your sweet replies on her account.

My, I missed this before but am glad I came in now!  She reminds me of my grandma and the energies she had that far exceeded mine. When she turned 90, she said, "I'm noticing I'm starting to slow down though. When I stay out dancing on Saturday night, I sleep till nine the next morning." Some pioneer women have so much chutzpah, it's amazing!!!

Enjoyed the poem, the pics, and the lovely comment from your mom.

Titia's mom:

Your face brings to mind a poem I once wrote
which I will quote:

There is beauty in every face
arch of lid
breath of flower

and to trace line and form
is no miracle to sleight of hand
but the heart light
that grows and cascades
from within
____

thank you Titia for the sharing of this lovely lady's birthday!

Titia, I so enjoyed your "picture-words" of your Mom's 90th birthday.  My Mom-in-law, who also just turned 90, is "rusticating" because she doesn't want to be this old, instead of enjoying these special extra years.  Your Mom's was is so much better.  Lovely and wonderful,  ME

Thank you all so much for your lovely replies. I know she will love them for she's asking constantly if there are any

And yes, she will write a poem and I'll try to translate it for you, for she doesn't write in English and doesn't have internet yet.
