            Back Before Begun

The breeze is coming from the south sand spit
born in the rip curl of a mound of deep green
the sway of current’s timed to perfect marriage
of curled salty lip and illumination of moon sheen

The screen door openly accepts the bouquet
the human color that mixes asphalt and cement
with so many little miracles it finds along the way
like grass new mown mixed with lily’s umber scent

If reverie was given to becoming more than thought
the sounds of summer afternoons would surely play a part
in pouring out the memory of hands across time’s field
where the little girl of me in the ocean found her heart

The patterns in the sand from feet dancing on the dune
fragrant ice plant memory and wink of sand crabs dive
while sitting here by open door I even hear well tuned
cacophony of seagull sounds as time becomes alive

I cannot assign a number to the cherishing I’ve done
the wrapping of my feelings around the joy and pain
while in my little wooden boat back before begun
but I keep an open envelope to fill with my explain

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

Loved the title...and I think we all need to carry that "envelope" with us. You are a delight to read, Martie. I remain, of course, your fan!

I dont know which to worship first here...
the imagery or the rhyme done divine...
not to mention those poetic phrases and metaphors that you wrap around us in delight.

I personally cant wait to read the next explain you pull from that poetic envelope open mind of yours

Fantastic imagery in this one, Martie.  Lovely words.

What more is there to say to you Martie than this was sheer poetic perfection, absolutely marvelous images once again.  You held me with a feeling of utter involvement (hands on chin) second read type poetry, ending with a sigh of satisfaction

Whether you do it in free-verse or in rhyme as supreme as this, you always strecth the thoughts across our eyes with an amazing beauty and talent that few will ever be able to touch.  Beautiful imagery and exquisite flow in this my dear friend.  It is always a treat to end my day in the blue pages with one of yours and I do so love treating myself.
