desert flower looking for rain

Fronds

along the lines
of tenderness
I walked within
her shadow
and left a trace
of the
taste beyond
your gripping
desire and
fanned flames
with fingers
that melted
against the
red-purple
under the
shade of a
falling fading
palmetto
whose fronds
mocked, then
bled ... my
trust for
roots
to survive
another
desert summer

and in doing so, you touch my heart"
