Hay from summer days
too hot for even civility to smile
now rests under us,
this blanket spread
for wine and cheese
the cushion against
prickling stems of day.

We fit together well
and lolled lazily,
connected as we were,
letting soft kisses
and the shaft of light
from long weathered boards
reflect off our souls

Plucking errant strands
of seasoned hay from damp hair
with the sea of your taste
lingering on my lips
I languished in cool air
and heated hearts

sweet smell of hay
still lingers on this loft
and I still come sit
thinking of your eyes
and the day you wanted me

I think the summer season's been very good for you....

and the sweetness of this rivals the lingering sweetness of any hay...."let's make hay" takes on a whole new meaning....

oh, oh, my...being wanted is such a wonderful feeling, recalling such a wondrous thing

I hear tell a 'roll in the hay' is quite a pleasure, so few lofts around today in the cities of your lives.

Enjoyed the story this told
and the way it was told.

Ellie May in the Hay once again if she was smart! This is so warm and intoxicating. Those old barns hold many secrets.
