She sits at the end of the wooden dock,
Listens to the tolling of the old clock,
Hears the Church bells further off chiming,
Familiar sounds that keep on reminding,

Caught within the confines of Piers and Peers.

Water’s chaotic comfort on three sides,
Plainly in sight yet it’s here that she hides,
From taunts of others about her being,
It’s just her outer style that they’re seeing.

Caught within the confines of Peers and Piers.

Shoeless the tide softly tickles her feet,
Friendless friendly to whom ever she’ll meet,
Young children to the old ones staying back,
Unwilling to comfort her wrapped in black.

Gloom
