Her name is silent
No syllables
No vowels or consonants
She is simply the hush
within her crystal walls
The glimmer is a lie
Even though the sparkle
Upon her eyes and lips
Soften the pallor
Of her Violet skin
She can know only the cold.
Slick in the glassy fortress
She slides down the halls
Of lifeless. Snapping blue
Snow flowers, that fracture
In her numb hands. Crying
Doesn't come, frostbite does.
Her fridged breath is her only
companion. Her heart beats
So slowly it ticks, and echoes
Through the castle, Like the
Dripping of water from an Icicle.
If only she had warmed
By the heartfires of giving.
For now she begs to crack open
And shatter into flakes
That she knows will only disappear
Such is so, The Ashes of an Ice Queen

such a strong image here... very nicely crafted... very nice indeed

I think perhaps... the warming of herslf by giving..is never too late... and all that would fracture..is the prison she has locked herself in...

Enjoyed this so much it made me shiver.

Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away.

Nothing a little passion won't melt...  Powerful descriptions with a unique premise.

Gorgeous piece of writing. I especially like that

If only she had warmed
By the hearfires of giving

Moving stuff. Thanks for making my first read of the day such an enjoyable one

Very cold story.. Regina, the way this is told is extrememly good. There must be other ways to say so, but I do indeed love this.
