In the middle of the night
I thought I heard you
serenade my love
I went to my balcony
but only saw the stars
with tears in my eyes
I wished that my heart
would remain true to itself

Wonderful.  That the serenade was heard is evidence of the presence of love

It's hard to be true to yourself, when you truly just want to be loved.  You'll find a balance...give it time.
