First Day of School

My baby started school today
A day so long awaited
To see her little face grown up
She was incredibly elated!

This day she's waited for many a year
To have a place of her own
Not one to share with li'l sis
But one to show she'd grown

A look of worry came over her face
As I turned to say goodbye
Made my heart bleed to see her fear
Although I knew just why

Suddenly not sure of the place she is in
It's all so new to her
Home is the only place she's known
Now that seems only a blur

I gave a look of reassurance
Hoping she would take it
Her little smile said she'd be okay
That she was going to make it

My baby started school today
Not sure if mommy would survive
The truth that her little girl is growing up
It's beautiful to watch her thrive

So on this day so big to you
I've sent a little prayer
My little girl you'll always be
No matter when or how or where!

For my sweet Stevie on her first day of school!

Thanks Vicky for your help on the picture...much appreciated!

Cindi~

A memory-in-the-making
With one more step she's taking
Snapshots of the heart in aware
In an album of treasured moments to share~

As you already know ... this mommy's heart does a flip
over these nostalgic little memory pieces.

Thank you for sharing, Cindi~

One of the most overwhelming days of a parents life for sure.  I remember when both of my children had their first day of school and I was a bundle of nerves. Mostly on my son because I kept expecting to be called into the office to pick him up. LOL  Seriously, this is a wonderful write and you have written it very well.  The flow is excellent.  Much enjoyed.

Marge,
Thank you, I am going to print a really nice copy of this and put it in her baby book so she will have it as a memory along with the tons of pictures we took yesterday! She is having a blast!
Love ya
Cindi

Mark,
I was nervous for her but so excited too! Yes the idea of being called to the principals office has crossed my mind but I think she is having too much fun getting points for behaving!  She loves it so far!
Thanks for reading!

A beuatiful poem, I know she was excited and nervous, as we all were.  Enjoy the moments, they grow up too fast.

Cindi-
This one touched me way down deep...
brought a tear to my eye.
They certainly do grow up quickly...even
   when they are someone else's.
   Wonderful write.

   Love ya,
