We had you for such a little while
losing track of the hours,
all those grains of sand
too many to count,
too small to notice
slipping through our fingers.
You sent your words across
the sky, making us laugh,
making us think,
often to think differently
of things we were so sure of.
We knew your words,
then you through them,
your gentle heart, quick
to praise, quick to inspire,
and keep a willing spirit
dancing to poetry's song.
We played as children,
then watched our children play
and grow, and seek and find
their places in a world
that tipped imperceptively
on its axis from the thoughts
and words we sent to find
their own places in this special
world of poetry. Rest in Peace
old friend, I know you are
renewed in a place beyond
rhyme or reason.

Wes-You've captured well the essense of this tribute to a very sweet man who wrote poetry with his heart.  Every one of poems I had read touched me.  He is missed, but luckily we are blessed that his poetry lives on.

Wes~
Welcome to the circle of friendship and poetry.
Without question you got our attention with a post to a beloved member of our hearts.

Wilfred danced through our forums with great poetic agility and gentlemanly grace.
He holds the hearts of many of us.

I was just re-reading some of his e-mails over the weekend and laughing at his wonderfully delightful sense of humor.

Thank you for this gentle tribute to our friend.

Welcome to Passions, Wes.  You must have known our "Mr. Yeats" personally to be able to share with us that which you saw in him.  He was a much respected Poet and we miss him very much.

Please check your e-mail for a special greeting.

Thank you all for your kind words. Yes, I knew Bill personally. We did grow up together. After many years we settled on opposite coasts, yet kept in touch via email. It was only during the last several years that we discovered we were both writing, though I was not as involved with poetry as he was. We had wonderful discussions about writing and most haply, on a trip east earlier this year,   I was able to have dinner with him while he could still drive. He introduced me to the Bianca site, but I had forgotten about this site, and was reminded of it by another friend of poetry. I can see he had many good friends here. I look forward to "meeting" you through Passions. Thank you again.

Yes...that is exactly how he shared his love of poetry with us...
So many times he would write a quick note to encourage and also to share the inspiration he found in another poets words...
Thank you for this wonderful tribute..
you have done him justice and captured his grace.
Welcome To Poetry Land Wes ...
its so nice to meet you.
I look forward to reading more of your work.

Wes, it is good to see you here posting at Passions.  I haven't visited the other sites much lately since I have found passions.  You will find it to be a wonderful place of friendship and words.  It is good to see you here, and it is so kind of you to remember Bill/Vagrant/Yoss/Wilfred.  No matter the name, he was always a wonderful poet and friend.  Welcome!

Again, thank you all for your kind words. Bill was one of those rare people who was equally comfortable in Science and Art. He was a computer genius when computers took up an entire room and required special cooling systems in order to run them. He played piano, cooked, and could ride a bike father than most people can drive a car. His last job was a teacher, of computing of course, and he loved it. I look forward to meeting you all through Passions and renewing friendships with poets I knew at other sites.

This is a very beautiful tribute to a man that gave so much of himself and his talent so openly.  I held a great admiration for him and his works and that is a gift that I shall cherish forever.  Wonderful tribute and I thank you for sharing with us.

Thank you Wes, I still feel so sad when I think of Will being gone. But he must be in a place where he reigns as head poet of the other world. It made me smile, and cry, to read this.
