Spoken For If you gave me just one gift It was love I had to learn Now that you are leaving me You don't ask it be returned Time was void and infinite I sang my heart and knew you heard You told me gently what I said And swore you meant each swelling word Love had thorns to prick my finger From the tongue you placed in me And every word I thought was good Turned your heart thus inwardly Can it be that love is faulty Freer than a human’s will All the life I had within me To be left here standing still Speak through me I’m spoken for You think one thing I have learned Flip my love and turns up hate And by God it’s now returned [This message has been edited by wayoutwalt (edited 08-19-2001).] |
