Finding one more cigarette when I thought I was out
Squirrels stuffing their cheeks with food while I sit just a few feet away
Mail in my box from someone I don’t owe money
Grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch
Dog greeting me after work as if I’ve been gone for days
Cleaning out a dresser drawer and finding an old love letter
Coffee with real cream when I wake in time to see the morning
Sunday paper delivered mistakenly to my yard
Rhythm of the night when only poets are speaking

I like this very much.  We often tend to forget the simple things that bring joy in life--and gratitude for what we have, instead of sadness for what we have not.  Thank you.

Ah Duncan ... the squirrels, the grilled cheese, the doggy greetings, the poets ... oh my yes ... these are such delights. Wonderful smiles you've given me, thank you.

You've a wonderful list of favorites, Duncan, minus the cigarettes! (bad for you!)

enjoyed reading this!

the rhthym of the rhythm rhymes
with poets speaking right on time,
the lucid glare of verse aware
omits the rapture of sublime

no matter what we ate for lunch
there's food for thought
i have a hunch
and dogs will lick
to welcome home
mistakes forgiven

metronome
the tick and tock
of timing's clock

no half 'n' half for me

full cream
of livin'
papered
poetry
to see

(and all that means, thanks for a wonderful write... enjoyed your poetry)

Yes, it is quite often life's simple pleasures that we take for granted that are most enjoyed.  Thanks for reminding us.  Nancy.

Sunshine, light breeze on a day with no humidity, an unhurried walk with no watch and no reason for one. We forget how pleasurable life can be in our haste to have. Enjoyed.

A bit of something for everyone. Life's small treasures. Good thoughts. Chris
