It's a long story,
our love
but short to tell
Only what's highlighted remains
the good was good
the bad, well, bad
Neatly written
in its begging
But got sloppy
towards the end
We grew tired
love's too much work
and everything ends

oh I don't know that I agree with you that it is too much work.... but I enjoyed the poem... captured succintly the feelings...

Maybe you'd agree that it's only too much work when you get no return on your continued investment.

yes you put the feelings in a nut shell

perhaps one or both began to think the other wasn't worth the effort, what's worth having is worth working for, but then, both have to be laboring toward the common goal

Love doesn't have to end, it just takes work to keep it going sometimes

If you love with your heart, there is no end....great write...although sad
