He wore his big belly with his cheerful smiles
Never had I seen him blow his temper wild
As a little girl I used to wrap my tiny palm around his arm
As he guided me shopping for stuffs that I be charmed

He was everything to me especially when I was nine
A God-like figure who was forgiving, merciful and kind
Truly a magician he was as he teased me with his good old tricks
From little rabbits to candy sticks…things that mum would surely forbid

Slowly I took all these away from him as time went on
The sweet memories of his beloved girl to hold
As I recollect how he looked at me with his lonely eyes
It dawned upon me on the efforts I’ve never tried

No one was around to bid farewell when he left
I prayed the angels were with him as he took his final breath
It pained my heart to see him laid there motionless and still
I watched him with sorrows, guilt and emotions chilled

Nine years later my heart still grieves
For a father who once fulfilled so many of my dreams
I recall him not only in these sweet remains
But also with a memory that is…stained

Oh, Cottage~
This is so sad ... and your sorrow shows~
Nine years is a long time to beat yourself up over something you cannot change, dear.

I believe that you can safely know that were he here ...
he would not want you to grieve so.

Forgive yourself ... I'm certain he has.
I offer a hug~
A Big *HUG*

very sad.... and also very well written.

I would agree... forgive yourself..for if he was as you describe he would have wanted no less from you...and I am sure he already has
