In the Company of a Thought

I have not filled my poet pen
It has not one drop of ink
for my thoughts cannot speak tonight,
too heavy is the weight of sorrow
to be the burden of a phrase

The most grievous tears
remain in the wells of life’s learning
much too deep for any words to penetrate

There is no ink in my pen tonight
to write my heart and soul
for I am not one to search for words
that don’t exist

And I do not have the velvet finesse,
the phrase of loveliness and grace
to powder thoughts like the
wing of a butterfly

The seeds that were planted in my mind,
the vines of language
rambling through every meadow
and canyon, every hilltop and cavern
of my thought
have not yet touched upon the cheek
of this sorrow

I swim a salty sea
and swallow thoughts which toss and play
on the rippling waves
these reflections of the mind
that are impossible to express

I am mute, void of expression,
my hand limp with fatigue
unable to grasp the feather weight of a quill,
for my sorrow is too heavy to be
the burden of a phrase

And so I sit
alone in my sorrow
in the company of a thought

I know this feel...it's nice to know I am not alone...

Well done, Lady Santos

sometimes...the weight of our feelings simple pin us to the moment and our thoughts.... this expresses that so very well...

when the weight lifts..the words will come in some measure...in some form...never do they seem adequate or sufficient to our needs...but they will come....

Elizabeth,
Excellent, even a butterfly needs rest. Love
