Silence

Silence enfolds her life
not a sound to be heard
unable to know the difference
this is her only world

A world full of joy
even though she cannot hear
she sees so much more
she lives without fear

I was able to meet her
in passing one day
a blessing she gave me
in a very special way

I asked about her silence
she only smiled and said
"sick when a baby"
that seemed to stick in my head

I asked God "why her?
I was sick too
why did you let me hear
why let me through?"

He answered me quickly
I was surprised you see
He said "I spared your hearing
so you could sing for me"

I'm grateful for the talent
that God has given me
I'm grateful for the privilege
and ability to sing

Thank you God for sending an angel
to open up my eyes
for without that fateful day
singing I would've denied

I try not to question a gift either...at this particular time I was contemplating quitting singing altogether...It had been becoming too stressful..God sent her at just the right time

A very touching way to praise him and to find understanding beyond yourself. The gift of voice is a wonderful ministry. Song can bring some very far away people to his fold. Enjoyed deeply.
Sincerely,
Regina

I have family who are deaf - You've done a lovely job of portraying the loss of a sense - and the questions we ask of its value... I like this, C..

Nan,
If there is anything I have learned in life it's that someone who has lost a sense have a broader look at the world...I thank God for them! Thanks for reading...I'm glad you liked it!
