Flame To The Candle

~*Marge Tindal*~

I chose a candle of soft adorn
upon the shelf, placed it just so
Never thought to light it
to see it's lovely glow

There it sat for many a year
dusted and admired
Never gave off any warmth
for it never was touched with the fire

Then came the night that I had need
to feel the flicker of wick
I struck the match of remember
and touched the candle quick

The flame grabbed hold and sputtered
until it felt the waxing melt
and all the dreams of yesterday
into the wick was felt

The glow that lit the evening
burned with sweet remember
Of a time when your fire burned brightly
quietly then to ember

The dance of flame across my heart
was steady with the light
And how the warmth sustained me
through the lonely night

Softest glow of heart's recall
melted until dawn
Though the candle was no more
the memories lingered on

I would suppose the lesson
contained within this rhyme
is to be the flame to someone's candle
before the pass of time~

That they may share in knowing
of the very special glowing
that within a heart is felt
before the candle melts~

Marge, a beautiful way to learn something, the flicker of a candle and your words.

Your poem... your thoughts... a lovely bright candle in the midst of darkness. Thank you for the vision and the inspiration... may I someday be an example of it.

Gee how did I miss this one, the neighbours around me see candles on in here, and they have the phone ready to call 911!  Oh the flame of remembrance, Marge you kindled my spirit with this one, for I know this one well! Nicely done gal.

If you have but one true friend when you die you were truly blessed

This was so very lovely.  I have many candles around my home and I light them often as they give such a feeling of serenity, just as your poem did for me this morning.  Take care......Sue
