I'll Huff And Puff and Blow Your Heart Down

A heart can be a loving place,
Wherein there live no fears.
But mine has hardened from abuse,
Received throughout the years.

Such delicate crystal long ago,
So fragile to one’s touch,
It wasn't long before it shattered,
And it didn't take too much.

I built it back out of wood,
As I had lost all trust.
A little more was withstood,
But soon sawed in half to dust.

So brick by brick I built it up,
It wasn't worth the trouble,
With a hammer stroke by stroke;
Soon it was smashed to rubble.

Once again it's time to decide,
How to rebuild my heart to heal.
I guess I'll take this heart of mine,
And simply build it out of steel.

Oh, Sharon,
Another heart wrenching poem.
THis is truly written from deep within, and therefore it must be true.
Your heart may be fragile but it is big enough to hold a lot of love.
I'd like to quote part of a poem I wrote about my crystal heart being shattered, because you remind me so much of myself:

"A thousand pieces would remain
To cast a goblet in my name
Enhanced with silica more fine
And etched by hand of my design

The light of life shines through the glass
Reflecting rainbows in its cast
In sparkling joys of present days
It beams at you in crystal gaze

Translucent chalice made unique
Wrought with a woman’s own mystique
A goblet rare to touch the lip
And warmly held with every sip"

This is you, dear

Love ya,
Liz

Mysteria, if your heart was made of steel, would such beauty still run from your pen?

Mysteria-
Build it out of love my friend.
   There is no stronger foundation.

Lady in White ~ I am glad not all fables are as sad as this one aren't you?

CPhat Hair ~ I am glad it reads well, thank you.

JamesMichael - Thank you for reading this.

Liz ~ Yes, this is a true one!  I just intend to be cautious who I let into my heart on this internet., When I say I am a friend I mean it, even in cyberspace, but a lot of people have used me or don't take friendship as seriously as I do, so it is my own fault and I get hurt that is all.  So I intend to be very careful from now on.

Your poem by the way was absolutely, positively fantastic but then is there one of yours I don't like, no!  Thank you Liz I do believe I got a hug, and I needed it

Maeve ~ I love people and life, so the good always wins out with me eventually.

Vicky ~ Believe me I try, but get kicked a little too often, but I keep trying.

If you have but one true friend when you die you were truly blessed

Oh, Sharon....words I can so vividly relate to.  Sometimes life finds the strangest ways of rebuilding broken hearts and ravaged dreams...one heartbeat at a time...and that foundation is built upon the discovery of special friends who touch your heart and change your life forevermore (....like, say..YOU...for instance...~*~winks...)
....and sometimes even by tossing unexpected love into your passageway from the opposite end of the earth and completely leaves the heart spellbound and melting in a pool of Danielle Steele's unwritten chapters...~*~smiles~*~
I loved this, Sharon...and I shall see you very soon...keep the light on, and please don't forget us at the airport! (he he)
Hugs, smiles...and love you muches of bunches, ~*~dawn~*~

Mysteria~
Your heart has to be made of steel -
that's what makes you so strong ! !
But .... we all know there's a secret chamber
that is ALWAYS unlocked for loving friends to enter.

Wonderfully written, my friend.

Love is unbreakable
when can't you see
everything happons for a reason
Love is you and me
when you see Love so true
you will simply see
how it all adds up now
oh so naturally

Your heart is whole to start with.
So it cannot break.

Your poem is truely beautiful
It touched my heart with ease
I hope you see the bigger picture
The one with you and me.

(everything)

Sam

This was very well written.  A poem that I can totally relate to.  I am 30 years old and my heart has been hidden behind a wall of steel my entire life( due to abuse and abandonment).  But~~~~~~~~~~~after 30 years,  someone----------my ANGEL  Jane has somehow, unexpectedly, unintentionally, uninvitedly, but blessingly  she has entered my heart.  And to tell you the truth----as afraid of this relationship as I am,  It is utterly beautiful.  SHe has become my light, my strength, my rock, my friend, my sister, my angel.  Even if I do end up being hurt by her in some way--------I will forever be greatful that she has entered my life and became a part of my life.

This is powerful in both its sadness (representing what you have been through) and its strength (representing your resolve to "rebuild" again). Very well written and a wonderful message. Just make sure that the steel you use to build up your heart doesn't trap your feelings within.

Lisann: There is a risk in almost everything, so take the good parts and be grateful for them, for not taking a chance will give you no memories.  Thanks for reading

Rasclx:  Very perceptive - thank you.

Suetang: Thank you for your very kind words.
