It is raining today
Slow gentle fall
Of drops on drops
From a sky
Not quite as grey
As I feel

No lightning
No thunder

Just gentle drops
That slide like
Tears down pains
Of glass

Puddle on shards
Of broken
Clay feet

I guess
I am a sunshine person
Needing the rays
To burn out the blues
The glare to blind me
From looking too far
Or too long in any
One direction

The rain brings out
The stillness
Without a storm
To distract

Sometimes
I am tired of listening
To me

It’s raining today
And I know the moisture
Is needed to make
New growth,
I know it can be enjoyed
As I have and do
On days I am not
Thinking...

are you?

Oh, I'm thinking, all right, and am glad to know that you are not the only person who needs sunshine in their life...

the rain started
around three
seventy-five hundreds
dropped
my panes are pained
with streaks of
leftafterdust

not enough rain
for a thorough
cleaning

so I showered

and still feel
the grit

yet, Ron, a gentle rain on a melancholy day can allow one the release, the blessing of tears undetected, while walking through one's thoughts under the soft grain droplets upon one's cheeks

beautiful poem, gentle melancholy, watch for the rainbow

I am tired of listening
To me

After today, I will be looking for your poems - and checking to see if my diary is missing.   For once again, your words speak with soft recognition - perhaps I need rain to refocus. Beautiful work!

Cindy
What a nice rainy day poem
You know, it's nice to sit and read poetry on a rainy day and this one should be read on such an occasion. But to me it's not a sad verse. I'm smiling at it's loveliness

well this sort of rain is much nicer than what we had last night....lightening and thunder loud enough that all the dogs were scratching on the door to come inside, loud enough to wake me from a dose of 2 muscle relaxers, and make me dream of computers...lol...ok...let me explain that...my computer opens and shuts with the sound of a great blast of thunder, and when i have my soundblaster too loud, it sounds very realistic, and the lightening last night triggered dreams of storms and computers crashing....ok...now after all my rambling... on to your poem...yep I know just what you mean....your poem likening rain and tears...that's what rainy days do to me...I just stare out the window with no motivation to move....sigh....nice write

Ah Ron....I am definitely a sunshine person as well.  When I'm really sad about something, it always seems to be a rainy day!  Which suits me just fine sometimes.  Then I don't feel guilty about being melancholy    This was truly a beautiful write.

Smitten: Thank you for the nice words...
I too like rainy days at times..just to play in them..sometimes to just feel blue and not feel guilty as you say... somedays... I just ramble... and perhaps tell too much about what goes on or what I am thinking..

Though I understand this tiredness well, it is one I have not known in some time and would welcome.  A nice long, steady rain is just what I need.  Your poem damn near took me there.

to get lost in the rain... pleasantly letting the waters wash "through" you, without washing you away...."cleaning" you so that you can start anew... I can definitely relate to this... very well done!

Ron,
I'm sorry about calling you Cindy. I was confusing you with cpalmer. (blushing)
This reminds me of when I thought Severn was a man. Boy, was that traumatic! She has since come to visit me. All is cool.

Duncan: Thanks for the nice words and if the poem almost took you there I consider it a success... Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

rascalx: Thank you! I appreaciate the kind words and you taking time to read and comment.

Elizabeth Santos ( smiling) no need to worry about it... hey you can call me ron you can call me anything you like..as long as I get called to dinner... ( chuckling) Thanks for revisiting...and for the words...

Nan: The name used to be Capt Hair.... and it is a long story but started as a bunch of us on another board fooling around one day... and the name stuck... when I registered here, my fat fingers transposed the "p" and the "t" and I didn't catch it...and was too lazy to try and correct it...(laughing) Thanks for the nice words...and for taking time to read and comment. It is greatly appreciated!
