Empty boxes being filled
belongings sorted
my life in spill...
what to leave
and what to take
which parts of me do I forsake?

All the garden is in bloom
I did not wish to leave this soon
How I will miss the cypress loom
with drape of moss
in tinsel toss
the way the fog painted my gloom...

My dog's grave will be left here.
No one to shed a single tear
or light a candle by his grave
the way I've done every May
since he's passed away.

All the herbs will be mown down
No one will dance in sacred gown
at esbat, beneath the moon.
I did not wish to leave this soon.

My chimes I pack to take with me
for always they will sing to me--
I gather seed from four o'clocks
and bulb from flowers that I brought
from the last home that I left
and watered with the tears I wept.

I always hate to leave a home...
but I've been called to move along
and there I'll sing my lonely song
until that place becomes my own.

Oh,Sweetie~
This is achingly sad~
*Hugs*

For every passing phase of moon
there comes another quicker than soon~
And ritual again you will dance
given time and circumstance~

In recant of chant
the sacred gown will flow~
As herbs and you
in new garden grow~

Sending lots of hugs tucked in prayer~
Love ya'

This is sad and yet hopeful in a way, because somethings we are never without.

I have no doubt you will make it your own...
because regardless of what you pack up in those boxes...where ever you are, the magic and spirit of you is along for the ride.
Paint the walls with a fresh start and plant gardens of new seasons...
I know all the changes coming so close together are hard and seem more than one can handle...
but I am a firm believer in everything happends for a reason..
for what ever reason/purpose you've been given a new path...
make it a yellow brick road back to you baby.

Feels like Im dancin with truth and wisdom
Precious rhythm you are my guide
These days are sacred, my heart is humble
Oh warrior show me thy light

Oh Serenity ... you've captured such a tender mood of remembrance in your leaving of this place you called "home". I know too well the feeling, and this brought back such heart-tugging memories for me ... hugs for this lovely piece.

Best wishes,
/Kit

hard to leave... roots go down so easily and parts of us remain no matter where we go to... as usual... I am impressed

Even a move made voluntarily for the best of reasons has moments of sadness, but when a move is made without joyous anticipation, the past and what we're leaving behind can blind us to the potential blessings of new beginnings. This beautiful poem is sadness-drenched; I hope your destination has much happiness waiting for you.

I am glad your packing those seeds...my father left me some and I still have them in an envelope...conditions here are not congenial to the plant's seed, but I keep them as a reminder of all the seeds he ever planted, nevertheless...

darn this is good....

Seren, leaving things behind is always hard... so many wonderful memories, some good some bad but all part of you. These will never die they are things that you can carry with you. And just cos you are moving home does not mean you are bailing out of here... take care, southern soul

It is hard to move on and have to leave parts of ourselves behind. Happened to me lately too.

Excellent sharing of thoughts and emotion.

Hugs to you sweet Serenity.  I have no doubt you will find peace again in your soon-to-be "home"....your last words tell me so.  Until then, have fun exploring and starting off with a fresh new place!  And look back on your old one with a smile
