Toad’s Up

Toad’s up
silly me
croaking, hopping
by the sea

Leap frog
leap frog
over grass
while the hours
duly pass

Draggin’ fly on
spider strings
whippoorwill
gaily sings

Cattails waving
in the breeze
beaver slaving
gnawing trees

Polywogs
swim to and fro
in the murky stream
they go

Mallard drake
in the wake
rowboat brings
his tail a shake

Summer dreamin’
by the pond
dipping bobber
magic wand

Nightly crawlers
slither in
old tin can
will they win?

Will they bring
old fish to shore,
giving luscious
taste the more?

Straw in mouth
cornered play
lazy, crazy
summer day

Wait with me
stay a spell
rest a bit
I’ll never tell

When eyes twinkle
you will know
tis safe to leave
tis time to go

This is delightful, Virginia! Sounds like the perfect summer day to me!
