The Greatest Love - A Sonnet

The greatest love the world has ever known
Is written in the pages of a dream
The story has a spirit of its own
That lives along a gentle winding stream

Oh, Avon, won’t you tell us once again
Recite the phrases heard by Romeo
The words that gently poured from poet’s pen
Just as the tranquil drift of water’s flow

Immortal love, that lives within us all
Seducing hearts that hear his written lines
In truth, it is the phrases we recall
A fantasy of love the word defines

The greatest love the world has truly known
Is ours, the lustrous passion of our own

Ah Lady Santos, I keep reading your sonnets, and someday I hope to pen one worthy of your read!  These are always so very wonderful...said the little Engine that shall!

Beautiful!

I guess you are right......it's only in the pages of a dream.

This is quite lovely and wonderfully done.....

Thank you

Cadence so becomes you Lady Grace...
this is so lovely and romantic,
your vocabulary and poetic phrases blended with the rhyme to poetic perfection
Beautiful

Like the doors to Heaven would swing open...
If we could just find the right words to say
