I find now friends in nature
learning loneliness to shed,
a whole new nomenclature
to be trusted not to dread.

These trees who stand erect
unbowed so greet my path
and our assumed respect
assures no traded wrath.

The ducks upon this pond
know the space we all need,
we none are here to fawn
no disgrace, egos greed.

The soothing fountain spray
whose arch shall never cease,
allow my thoughts to stray
in momentary peace.

The little lake surrounds
peninsular'd land,
protects what little ground
I need to pen freehand.

Some turtles and a snake
cool off up to the neck,
slow streams their surfaced wake
eyes meet, shrug what the heck.

The clouds in billowed wisps
bring contrast to blue skies,
now all my senses crisp,
clear, naturally supplied.

It really doesn't matter
what e-mail waits at home,
in the end pointless chatter
I'm better off alone.

Richard you mirror my morning drive with this ...Went to a lake and chatted with some wise horses...
excellent use of the elements of nature to show how man lacks the respect of personal space...
but I'm still enough of a dreamer or hopeless romantic..that I would wish for you to have someone to be there "alone" with.
But I understand how sometimes its easier to jsut be responsible for us.
well written with your usual impressive vocabulary and cadence.

I know no one is to blame
In time youll feel strength when you call my name
I know Ill never hold you again
And I know Ill never be the same

RS:

Sometimes I wish
that I could find
an empty land
where I could stand
pure
in the desert dust,
swim on a glass lake.
I could be
a serene swan
or a lily,
the sky my admirer.

forgive me adding this this bit of poem to your beauiful verse...you just reminded me

Got to agree with you here, although email is a great tool...I get a lot of garbabe too...even from friends who should know better.

Really enjoyed this read.

Just please post more words every once in a while. I respect your aloneness. I sometimes love the quiet white noises of nothing. You've added beauty with nature and the contentment in your verse.
Sincerely,
Regina

Ah - some peaceful surroundings will do wonders for the "free-hand" writing of a man alone. You shared your visions well, and trust me - you are never alone!  Great poem Richard, you and nature do well together.

What Sy said - you ramble very well....more of us would do well to just take pad and pen and get ourselves off to where we are alone for awhile...when even the "clink" of an e-mail deposit is one noise too many...

just remember to bring your ramblings back to share, though....you are becoming a favorite read....

RS, this is a wonderful "time-apart moment"
you made me want to be in that same type place, just for the peace of it

well done!

ah.. time alone and in the company of that which is demanding of us in a different way than human contact...

I enjoyed the read, and the thoughts...

When peace is most ellusive, silence sometimes gives us what words cannot. This is a beautiful piece.

RSWells~
Oh, how I like this !

'The little lake surrounds
peninsular'd land,
protects what little ground
I need to pen freehand.'

I refer to it as my 'aloneitude' ...
and treasure it tremendously~

Very nice, sir~
