I breathe in slow and deep
No longer does my heart weep
Gentle peace washes me
Showing me all I shall be

I traveled through hell and back
Saw the things that I lack
Satan tried to charm my mind
God’s love broke the ties that bind

Now I walk in light so bright
Not even darkness can bring fright
My soul has been purified
And my heart has been sanctified

The days greet me with a smile
That lasts longer than a while
Calmness flows through my veins
Cleansing me like the sweetest rain

My true self begins to slowly emerge
All my sins have now been purged
Harmony rules the days at last
I’ve come to terms with the past

It took me quite some time
To get to my destined prime
Here I am for all to see
The true lone wolf inside of me

I refuse to try to impress anyone
We all get our day in the sun
The key is to know the way
Heeding what the Lord has to say

Those who are truly my friends
Will stay beside me knowing no end
The rest are just missing out
On what I’m really all about

My friends see me as I am
Precious as the purest lamb
They have my love for eternity
For that they have done for me

Thank you to the ones who know
More than just mere words show
Without you I would surely be lost
My ship would be violently tossed

You, my dear, are the best of all
Breaking through my inner wall
Showing me what lies inside
Should never have to fearfully hide

With some help I realize
My heart is more than a prize
It holds a weight of its own
Greater than was ever known

I kneel giving thanks to God
For it is He who holds the rod
Pointing out the path I need
For my freedom He did bleed

He knows me the very best
Looking deep inside my chest
Healing my broken heart
Mending each and every part

Thank you Lord for all You do
I owe my very life to You
For rescuing me from my sin
And making me born again

As I read this, I'm wondering if the "true" you is just coming out, or if it has been out all of the time.

And, if it hasn't been out before, why is it coming out now?

Very introspective, and a declaration of your newfound freedom.  I like it.

You are a wolf, I was a rose, and yes we sometimes don't let others see the real us.
Few people really know me either. Neither one of us would hurt a fly. We are sensitive, strong women who are not perfect but know the Lord and in that, we get through each day the best we can. We write poetry. We are also human with passions and well, that's where the poetry comes in, that's how we know one another, or did. We know one another more because we are friends. True friends.

I've never read a mean word from  your pen about anything or anyone, sometimes we have to vent, we reach that point where we can't hold it in any longer.  Your words are written for you, by you and not for any other reason.  Your poetry is fresh, sincere and
honest.
You don't write for attention, replies or for public acclaim. You write from your heart.
If others can't see that, they are missing out.

I'm proud to know you and I feel the best is about to be unwrapped. IT's about time.

It's about time.

Enjoyed reading words that come from a person who has opened her heart to the Lord.

Very touching LW, one must be at peace with oneself before one can truly be at peace.  I see you're well along that road. I know the path well - have yet to reach it's end.  May you reach each dip in stride, each turn fearlessly, each fork courageously.

Walk easy, my friend...help is everywhere as even a lone wolf is only as alone as it choses to be.

Sis, long time no see ... very strong writing in this one ... it has been amazing to see the changes, not only in your writing but also in your life, you have truly become independent. May God bless you in all you do.
