God, grant me patience to endure this day
I asked this alot over the past week or so
God, I ask, I pray and still I have feet of clay
Patience I am short on, promises seem to flow

I don't move as fast as the little ones do
Can't catch the spills, wipe up patty prints
Listen to the kiddy arguments, first words then fist flew
They look at each other, a word, time for a high fence

Let's play tag, push me on the swing, skip rocks
Ninty-plus outside so should stay inside and relax
Let's go shop, find quiet toys, keep the directions on the box
God, grant me patience, pieces lost, some broken, thats a fact

All right old girl--lighten up, see through their eyes
Enjoy each and every minute spent with these dears
Those smiles, those clear eyes that know no lies
Thank you for this time and memories to last all my years

Oh, so true!!  It is a time to remember.  I don't think I have the strength to wipe my feet!

Oh my...so this is what I have to look forward to?  My grandson is only 8 months old, and is a challenge to keep up with...cruising around furniture and putting everything in his mouth.

Ahhhhhhh, but I do love him so!

He has inspired me to add weight lifting training to my aerobics and walking regimen, so I will have the strength to carry him. Hahahah!  Perhaps that is a blessing in disguise, to keep me from eventually getting "old lady bones"...Hahahaha!

I enjoyed reading this one...thank you for posting it.

Janette, thank you and I wish I had known what was coming for my Golden years and had toned up my body.  After years of misuse, it is had to catch up to these little rug rats that I love ssoo much.  Good luck on your weight training.  ME

Zinsser, Just enjoy them with all of your heart.  So many of our "once little ones" are all grown up and we only have the memories.  Good luck on your write.  ME

All I can do is smile at this one, as time goes on it's the smiles that we always remember!   Take care!

Isn't it amazing how one little sticky hand can tug you up and get you going again when you'd swear you didn't have the energy left to fall in your own grave?   I like this a lot - especially the last verse.

Isn't it amazing how those little darlings can wipe us out? I envy you though, mine are in AZ, and I'm stuck in PA. Wish they were close enough to run me ragged again.

***My kid's (BDC) cookies are on my puter...darn kid...never did know how to clean up her crumbs** Sorry Folks!

Butterflies, my kid, I'm ready but thanks for the warning!!

shadow in the fall, thank you

Eagle One, right on!! Love all of it after some rest.

illusion, sticky hands, oatmeal kisses, they always seem more special when they are grown.

Constance, sorry yours are so far away.  We are away from all of them for 6 months so summers are special.

Gemini, just remember...they are grown up all too soon.
