She got married yesterday. Maybe this won't make much sense to y'all but it's the best way... the only way... I can say goodbye.

Once Upon Not Yet

Once upon not yet
happily never after
my cries of sorrow
became tears of laughter

times we’ve never met
somewhere along the way
just a dream only too real
opened the door someday

to a place called you and I
a figment of reality
my heart held prisoner
by a love that set me free

So very well said.  So much feeling and you let us see a different way of feeling.  "And this, too, will pass"  Well done.  ME

Jeff it does make sense, you know we may never fully get over lost loves. Especially the ones we cared deepest for, they will always burn on in her hearts. Thanks for sharing

Oh yes Jeff, you have said your "goodbye" well.

I loved this line:

"a figment of reality"

Love comes into our lives and goes...we never forget...the best that can be done is to grow, move on and love, again.

Mother Earth,
Thank you; I'm glad that you're able to "see" what I'm trying to say as well as "see" what I'm feeling.

citizenx,
Yes, she will always hold a special place in my heart. That is why a simple "goodbye" wouldn't do.

Janette,
I like that line too because at the same time that I miss her and wish things had been different and wonder "what if...?", I am also over her and moving on with my life enough to look back on her and I's relationship and wonder "Did that really happen?" or did I just wake up from a dream?

Jenn,
((HUGS back)) Thank you, my lady.   (bowing elegantly before placing a soft kiss on her hand lol)

Sven,
LOL You have watched her and I's relationship begin, grow, reach it's peak, falter, weaken, and finally end through the  poetry we posted here. So it seems only fitting that you are here for this last bit of verse before I move on. The book is now closed, my friend; thank you for "reading"
                        - Jeff
