Chase Away Darkness

He sat down beside me
So gentle and kind
Laughter and sunshine
Came into my mind
He held me closely
And deep down inside
Stirred an old memory
I thought I could hide
Memories of someone
Who once held me tight
Someone who chased away
Darkness from night

So often I've feared
So often I've tried
So often I've stumbled
Too often I've cried
Yet when I think clearly
It all seems so right
My mind is now restful
I accept the night
The reason is simple
The timing is right
I found how to chase away
Darkness with light

Thanks, Dark Angel and Lone Wolf! When it's dark here in Alaska, we have a magnificent aurora to help chase away physical as well as spiritual darkness.

Thank you Marge! I really love poetry...and your poems are so good that the complement is especially meaningful. I've only recently started sharing my poems on the Internet. It was a bit scary at first to "reveal" myself. But it gets easier with each post. Thanks for reading.
