Born in nineteenhundredeleven
you can spot her at age ten
pretty girl with ribbons in her hair
little Mouse she was called then

A bit older she took up nursing
she was devoted as they say
Most enjoyed the little babies
cared for people in her way

Married to the man she loved
sharing happiness and sorrow
she was an optimistic woman
always heading for tomorrow

Raising us through war she did
while my father was send away
after us three she got a fourth
died at birth not ment to stay

Lately she did tell me softly
I'm so old but still feel this pain
and even though she did not live
Saskia was this baby's name

She made tapestries on the wall
created puppets and did paint
she was a very busy woman
very loveble but sure no saint

When I worked on the computer
she always watched me wondering
if she could learn it at her age
to comprehend this modern thing

I said well why don't you try it
so she really start computering
and to my own asthonishment
she didn't need much tutoring

In a few weeks she will be ninety
write tales she told us in passed time
and her greatgrandchildren will read
about the adventures of a little dime

A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess...

Tremendously tender write. My Mother, born 1910 also raised us through war. How they were able to finese all things that gave us love and bread, I will never know. it is so good to honor those hard-working mothers world wide.  Shalom

Titia-
Wow...this is such a beautifully touching render.
Your mother is a special lady, and I feel
blessed to have had the privilege of reading
your lovely words of tribute to her.
She has raised a very loving and extremely

I wish you and your mother all that is good,
and may her birthday be the best ever.
   Happy Birthday, Titia's mom!

Oh for some reason I have a big lump in my throat now. This is wonderful.  For some reason I could not see the last few pics, my computer problem. I am coming back to try to see them.
My grandma just tuned 94.
If you like nostalgic pics as I do, go see my family page, I managed with great difficulty to scan some old pics of my Gram, Grandpa and Mom.
its on my home page, the family area.
I hope you print this and present it to her in a lovely frame, your Mom will love this. She was a very pretty bride. And sounds like a smart and fun person as well.

A loving tribute, thank you for sharing it with us.  You blended the words and pictures so nicely together.

In the wedding photo you can see her "optimism" in her lovely eyes.

Wow, she looks fabulous at almost 90!
