Marlboro Man . . . ?
~~~
Who can say
as the day dream lingers
Why the dream stays close
as the daylight cinders
Then tarries . . . on 'n on
to an oil lamp's flicker
Timely shadows dance
a pungent haze
growing thicker
~
Though its' hunger
intrigues me . . .
Its' addiction
bereaves me
Who can say why it shimmers
slaves my sense
even breathes me
Should I bask in its' grace . . .
To what end
will it leave me
~~~

Clever write....I should send this to my dad who doesn't believe I understand what he goes through when he quits.  All he sees is me nagging him
Enjoyed it,

hmmm, I guess I wouldn't have understood this without the comments, but I think partly it is my last poem, The Versifier, that is causing the confusion, on another board, I got the comment on it "Marlborough Man" and so then to equate this poem with that thought just doesn't go...lol...and yep have missed your writings, nice to see you back

Hey Rex, nice to see you again! It has been way to long! Very creative piece of writing? If you ever get the answer, let me know too!

Lady in White ... you've got that right ... I quit 3 and 1/2 years ago, but it's still a constant battle with 'reason' to ignore the urge to try one occasionally
I've talked to people who've quit for over 20 years and they still frequently have urges to light up ... What can be in this stuff to be able to control a person so completely ?

SmittenKitten ... Praise sure beats nagging, but remember that sometimes a person is so irritated when quiting that they misinterpret the praise

Thankyou Constance ... glad you liked it

jellybeans ... It's 'bean' a while since I've seen you in here as well, good to hear fron you

Denise ... I think it's one of those perpetual quests ... many answers needed, but none ever satisfy the indecision to quit

Thanks Kit ... this is the second time I've quit for over 3 years ... this time I'll make it ( I will not start again )
Good to hear from you too. Remember to call me if you decide to put in a pond
