Like a devoted lover clings to time,
with love as precious as bold trades of youth,
my love, made sure by questions divine,
deals with the mercy from the warmth of you.
For if I'm heedless, loved, or stained, or clean,
Or searching for my faults, or none, or more,
Regardless of the flight of past scenes
I give my heart invested in your worth.
So since I am not dead, sick, nor denied
Such is this virtue where my substance is,
Might I then cry indebted while alive
to be a part of your uncommon gift.
So what is left, is left for you to see
This love I live, much more for you than me.

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

Keep touching the warm, if not for you, than for the rest of us, and get back here more often....

Wonderfully expressed! - you have such a charismatic way with words, and the last two lines are a perfect ending

Ethome,
So what is left, is left for you to see
This love I live, much more for you than me.
Now this is true love. Nice to see you back.

I was listening to Cat Stevens while I read this--fit perfectly. What a beautiful spirit you have that shines through in all that you write. Have missed you my friend.   Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...

SO nice it is to find one of the masters of poetic verse leaving one for these eyes.  Eric, this is as superb as I would expect coming from your pen and as always you touch upon that realm of emotion that so many strive for but never find and you make it looks so easy.  Excellent writing indeed.
