I know you don't know what it's like to wake in the night
Then to wonder what you've just been through
But, on my side of the world, I have to learn how to fight
Only the shell of who I was remains being without you...

You should see me how lonely I am here in the dark
Staring at the ceiling for just a glimpse of comfort in prayer
For I know by heart the lines and texture overhead
How I try so hard to create a little something of you up there...

The morning, much the same, as I face the new sun
You should see me beg to the skies that today be the day
That I may find my friend with her own set of wings
Strong enough, that together, we can fly away...

You should see me when the skies turn colors at dusk
I melt like ice beneath a warm summers rain
I see you so clearly in the sky when the day is near done
You should see me try to hold on to any clouds that remain...

You wouldn't believe what the waters hold when you are gone
It takes everything I have to walk away from such blue
For lines of hope and chance surely runs down my face
Oh, and you should see me trying to touch my reflection of you...

You'll never see a heart lose in so many ways like mine
But, I never know which moment will be my very last time
And, you should see the many tears this girl has cried
You should see me, My friend, how I've slowly died...
