Wave

Of the sea
Swelling and breaking
on the shore

Tide

Moving slow
As old as the sea
Ebb and flow

Storm

Sudden fury
rage with lashing wind
Then it goes

Dunes

Wind driven
Forever restless
moving sand

Gull

On white wings
Riding on the wind
Skims the sea

Ships

Float like toys
Over the vast sea
free from land

Tempestuous seas
Churn serene wave to riptide
Exposing the deep

waves of tides flourish
sudden storms crashing on dunes
gulls feeding off ships

Thanks for the visit to the sea, and I didn't even get wet!

Robert,
Another excellent collection of haiku. The sea is a prolific source of inspiration for the haiku writer. Dennis :^)

Enjoyed these my friend (both themes), even with my limited understanding of Haiku (now got to go find out what "western Haiku is--thanks a lot!). I like the way they ring and roll off the tongue...hmmm, begining to like this me thinks!

I don't know how this one slipped by me Bob...caught up with it just now and it is excellent. Love the churning sea....Nancy.

reminds me of a painting I saw all of the haikus reflet on the whole image. Very nicely done.
