Ah, lad, 'tis far fra 'ome, I am-
An' many years 'as passed.
Since I 'ave trodden Scottish soil,
The years are passin' fast.
What's 'at ye say?
'Ave I a 'ome? A frettin', lovin' mother?
Why, lad, I make me way alone-
The wild wolf is me brother.
An' where the darkness finds me at-
'Tis there I make me bed-
Me 'ome is whatsoever place,
I 'ap to lay me 'ead.
No 'ome, no kindred can I claim-
I drift where e'er I please...
No cheerful 'ome wi' lovin' wife-
Nor 'earth wi' warmin' bleeze.
No lad to follow in me steps-
I'll ne'er leave a scion....
To bear the bold Buchanan name-
No use in even tryin'.
I' ll bear me arms fer yellow gold-
Me courage tips the scales,
Ah, 'tis a fightin' mon I am-
So goes the Traveler's Tale.

It's always a pleasure to see you and your tales, John. I agree, you should definitely seek to have these published.

I agree with Nan
Your work should be published
You have a great talent for a story line
I love the earthy and yet lyrical quality of your poems
Another gem
