Where My True Love Waits, Part II
A sonnet duet with Sea

Pacing quarterdeck, willing ship homeward,
throwing on canvas she can safely hold
All hands bringing her about unhampered.
The air they breathe is urgency controlled.
Darkness encroaches, nearing rocky coast.
He cries "ease to port," enveloping fog
obscures all, even the heavenly host.
Unable to see he furls sail, agog,
knowing she is near. A beam cuts the veil,
a faithful beacon once again savior
he is safe. The waters he does assail,
as need claws at the heart of this sailor
will she be waiting, for her love’s return?
Seeing her eyes, only then will he learn.
