The Shores of Alone

It feels there’s nothing left of me
no beauty, love, or truth to see
just fragments scattered here and there
the end result of lack of care.

I feel there’s nothing left of me
but constant struggle, fruitlessly
the path I travel grows obscure
just  shadows, pain and nothing more.

From what strength do I regain trust
and for what point, though this I must
It hurts too much to let her know
though perpetrators come and go.

Many a man has let me down
tossed me coldly upon the ground
I should know where to place my heart
by now, though it’s in bitter parts.

I never contemplated this
a cruel betrayal by a miss
By one I’ve loved her whole life long.
A daughter should not do you wrong.

(it's ok, I'm getting over it )

Oh, Sandra, this is so sad. I sure hope things get worked out to your and her satisfaction...don't just try to get over it. If you haven't already, start an honest, open dialogue with her about it, even if you end up agreeing to disagree about something....she has to know how you feel.

It never hurts worse then when it is someone
that you love so much, like a part of the family.
Things will work out with her,
because you two got something that nothing
can break you got that bond that came with
her birth.
That's something special that you can't forget,
and even though it may seem as though she has
she can't forget it either.

Denise, and Voiceless, thank you for reading. This was a painful one to write, but I think we will work it out.

it's hard to continue believing sometimes, this sounds like the relationship I have with my own daughter, much as I love her, we're just not close.  (((((hugs))))))

Sandra:

This is very powerful with the emotional full of a relationship that is hurting.  I hope things work out for the two of you, as Denise said...even family feel differently about things..and to agree to disagree sounds like the beginning of something better.

Ahh, well, I didn't speak to my Dad or he to me for over two years, and then one day, I told him, this is enough...we got on halfway decent after that...very gentle smile

Oh, this is so sad.  You both have to want that relationship for it to flourish, one cannot do it alone.  I hope she comes around.  Powerful write, Sandra.

Sandra

Your words are very emotional and by reading this I can feel your heart on the table trying to survive.  You will always be her mother, and time will heal.  Give it a little time and then try again to work everything out.  Family is family.  Big hugs.

Sandra,
It will all be worked out in time.  Your love for Jenn is unconditional, and that's just the wonderful kind of Mom you are....

Such wonderful motherly feeling portayed in this verse. With the joy, we get the heartache too don't we. Just so you know, You inspired a poem titled Kings Possessions out of me. There was heartache in Camelot too. Thanks for your lovely replies. I know you'll work things out. I appreciate you very much.
Sincerely,
Regina

well, to be able to be honest with yourself is a good start. too many of us delude ourselves, refusing to recognize the problems...

i sincerely hope things change for the better

Cat, my friend, you have touched home, and deep in my heart and soul, and I cry, tears of pain and loss and knowledge of things that can never be regained. At least not as they were. My daughter, too, has stepped on and broken bonds that will never heal, and a certain amount of death now resides in my soul.  I struggle to regain some of what we had, and she now knows and feels the loss, but it's extremely hard...I empathsize with
with you more than you'll ever know. Thank you for the words...

sometimes the ones that we love the most are the ones that can also cause the most pain. But in time, blood will pull the bonds back together, and the relationship will be stronger than before, with a better understanding.  For now, lil sis, just know that there are those of us who are with you on this one, ok?

The road goes on forever, and the stories never end...

When they are Ten, we can only hope that we have instilled in them those qualities that we would like to see manifest when they get older. Afterwards we can only 'be there' for them... for they are no longer ours to mold or shape. There are no guarantees... and no analysis to determine, "Where we went wrong". All things exactly the same would not produce identical results.
