Going To The Junkyard

I’m going to the junkyard
to buy myself a car
there are things I’m taking with me
a bottled water, a metal baseball bat, and anger in a jar

I’ll take a sip of water
stare that car straight in the eye
open up the door, spread my anger on the seat
then my bat and I will tell it good-bye

all the hate and rage penned inside of me
I have to let it go
and this is the way I can do it
without hurting anyone else you know

I’ll reach right over, tenderly kiss
that car on the lips
turn around grab that bat
place it firmly in my grips

the next time I turn around
drink the rest of that water in a gulp
for what I’ve turned my back on
is nothing but an oily pulp

walk over to my other car
open up it’s trunk
place that bat inside in case later I find
I’ve collected any more junk

then get in my car
wave and smile as I drive away
I sure do feel better
and a lot lighter today
