Some Would Ask
Virginia Salter

Some would ask,
“Can’t you take anything seriously?”
Some would say,
“Be serious for once!”

But I’ve tried it,
I’ve fried it
I’ve dived in quite deep
and seriousness has one problem
it loses me some sleep.

And seriousness hurts,
it wounds and it cries,
I’d rather be in a pit
eating roasted flies.

You all have seen what happens
when seriousness creeps in to me,
it preaches or teaches
and ruins all our glee.

So if I poke at fun
it’s just for getting by.
It eases just a bit
what living does supply.

And if you read between the lines,
I’m sure that you will find,
seriousness is lurking there
in the ridiculous, lies sublime.

to have some fun, this has inspired me to think up a phrase for a challenge and then have the parameters, honor system, of "I can write that poem
in.....minutes!" Remember name that tune? Let me know what you think and if you have a phrase suggestion.

Maybe it could even spawn, "I can name that poem in 5 words, etc." heh heh heh

I love the quips and funnies. I think it's good medicine, but if it leaves a bad taste in someone's mouth, sorry....No foul intentions. I seriously respect grief, and mourning of course, and the only other thing I take seriously is the IRS. Because they can't take a joke! I once asked them if I could claim my son twice because I thought he had a split personality! They didn't laugh. As far as the challenge, I don't know, My muse has left the building. And I think she is having an affair with Elvis. If you see her, will you please have her dial 1-800-IMA-Sorry! You're fantastic.
Sincerely,
Regina
