             “EYES OF A CAT”
                         by

                        ~~~~
I stare into gentle eyes, that you own,
        blazing they are,
                just like your birthstone…
The softest blue of topaz, when you stare,
        hypnotizing delight,
                entices me, from this pair…
Soft and tender, but never do they waver,
        from needed wants,
                for they are the enabler…
When you smile, they are delicate and friendly,
        and if you frown,
                they still look at me, amorously…
They are very gracious, like a life giving rain,
        but lurking inside,
                something else they contain…
For when I touch you, topaz becomes sapphire,
        and with the softest kiss,
                they begin to conspire…
Piercing eyes start to flame, and I see,
        as they become tempting,
                and start to haunt me…
Mesmerized I watch them, as they begat,
        into the ever entrancing,
                ‘Eyes Of A Cat’…
as a cat lover, I know this is a superb analogy...though, as a cat lover I was taking the title literally...but I'll live without it being a cat poem, heh heh heh
Bill, this is so cool
I love the metaphor, images, word-play and analogy you use...the reader feels your intoxication.  Eyes are powerful, indeed.  This is so well expressed~
BillCharles~
Quite nicely done.
There is an intrigue about the eyes
that draws us into another~
Nice write, Bill, that's all of the world in those eyes for the moment.
Throw your heart out in front of you
And run out to catch it.
Enjoyed your style in this poem and especially the simple oxymoron:
"needed wants" -- very cool description.
