Send Me “Cheap Roses”

I am not quite
the delicate nature
of an exquisite rose
but still I bring
a heady scent
when underneath
your nose

I am more of cinnamon
whiff ~ a carnation
that parlays
intricacies
of my day

as do the petals of
that bloom, in
and around, up,
down
curving crown

yes, I am this
less expensive
and longer-lasting
flower
I have that power

in your garden
I would grace
bringing elusive
smiles
to your face

be me pink, red,
yellow or white
on long green
graceful stem
I stand
under sunlight,
bright

so catch me up
on the breeze of night
fragrant cinnamon
true delight
of many eons

then breath me in
touch my curves
and remember that
you can afford
the bit of
flower that serves

Sunshine - delicate, as a rose you write. But I, would always send more than a cheap rose...

I'm loving this poem, Karilea
Carnations are my Mom's favourite, so I'm going to send this poem to her through the e-cards~
Well expressed, I love "I am more of cinnamon, whiff ~ a carnation"

A rose, a rose, what do you propose? Carnations on the table with scent to tempt my nose, I see you for the beauty my heart will always see, my rose, my rose so pretty, to me you'll always be.

A nice write Sunshine, once again.

Rick.

Sunshine

There is nothing like a rose - the true flower of love and friendship.  Carnations are beautiful - but a rose is a rose.
