Love Poems and Gore

How finely crafted, passionately
Placing your heart
Out there

How gory a recount, blood and guts
Not five minutes later,
the joy of a child on your face

If they saw your eyes
Would they know it was you
Who so skillfully crafted those lines

And yet
Love and compassion
Is all I have for you
Love and compassion. And hope.

It's amazing how people have many facets, isn't it?  Nice poem.

Very true, Shannon.  This poem is about a homicide investigator who writes poetry.  I was just amazed at the juxtaposition of his interests - literally 5 minutes apart.

Thanks for the comments!
