stones

do you want
this

the woman
pulled out
a collection
of bolo ties

proffered them
to daughter’s
slender hands

do you want
them

yes

she
picked them
up, feeling
yesterday’s blood,
nape of neck
recalling the breath
left behind

memories blinking
left behind in
younger eyes,
winking

hand made
bolo ties, stones
of color and
polish

hand rubbed,
they had draped
and formed
his character

these stones
left behind
holding the strings
of his life

to be placed
in the thread of
hers

over time, she
removed
one stone
from string,

carries it around

touching the
cool

remembering
the warm

as he remains
that close

I like this piece, Decaflame.
