I beat my feet
relentlessly.
The skeletal structure
they support
grows weary of remaining vertical.
Lacking flying buttresses
or wings to ease the weight
the lower back
wants a new address.
Shoulders tense,
pinched between
the ingrate spine
and troubled mind.
The mouth motors on
and on,
oozing assurances,
fearful of stalling
so stagnant is the air.

Then there's the Black.
It borders the edges
of everything.
It rusts the rod of my center,
and if they ever meet.....

I beat my feet relentlessly.

I enjoyed this on multiple levels -- I relate to the obvious physical descriptions, and I liked the inference of not letting "black" consume one's core, for it's too easy to do so, especially now-a-days...  A path of Light takes so much more effort, but it is well worth the expenditures...
