A career
One that you slaved for
Sweated for, longed for
Every Goal Met before you
An over achiever? Maybe
But tired
So tired of red tape
Paperwork, Deadlines
Pressure, Big Mistakes
Problems, With no solution
Computer headaches
Higher ups, Kissing butt
Blowing smoke, Coffee cups
The whole thing seems a lie
The money is great
But who am I?
To sit in a big chair
Behind Piles of files
Constant Phone Calls
Fake people, Fake Smiles
Burnt out, Brain Dead
Throwing pencils at the ceiling
Stuffed Shirts, Gossip
Lost Deals, Dirty Dealing
Running errands, Racing time
Business meetings, New meat
New rules, Old news
No lunch, No sleep
Great benefits, bonuses too
Having to dress the part
For clients who... to beat it all
look right past you

Looking for the Man in the office?
Oh, we have him tied up in the back.
Would you like to make an appointment?
Let's See... Oh, He's booked up,
For the next 50 YEARS!
Can I help you, or would you like to wait?
On Second thought, Maybe you
Should get your Wife, Daughter, Mother
Or Sweet Thang to come in and Speak
Cause I'm PMSing here and I might cry
My Ovary has been acting up Sir...
You got a tissue? I like your hair piece.
No don't leave! I need a Sugar Daddy!
They Just MADE Me Take This Position!
The only reason I took this job
Is for the leg waxing they treat me to
While they are out playing Golf.
It's not good to feel stubbly
During a board meeting!
You never know who might grab your leg
Under the table.
I can't even read that Certificate! Hey!
Where ya goin? Does my butt look fat?
Don't make me break a nail!
I'll pick up your Dry Cleaning!
Just let me go fix my hair first OKAY!
You got any CHAP STICK?
Okay...I feel better. I guess I should put disclaimer: Warning Contents Under Pressure.

Thanks Seymour! I'm glad you read it without branding me a man hater. Just venting

Woo!  Someone needed to rant!  And you did it in such an expressive and eloquent way

LOL! Wonderful you Marge. Thanks for seeing the humor in this. Glad you liked it. Can you imagine me going bollistic that way? I just grin and bear it.
Sincerely,
Regina

(Chuckling) Having one of those days when all around you seem to want something or worse.. just don't get it???

Nicely written... and hope the pressure now is at least for a bit lessened

Dear Regina, rough day at the office was it, good to share your feelings with others at times, money's not everything you know, health and peace of mind are both priceless and sacred. We must at times reflect back on our beginnings and our goals, reassess them and mould our futures more to the circumstances which surround us, and to what makes us happy. We must work to live, not live to work.

Good read Regina, with plenty of feeling.

Cpat: Hey! Thanks! Oh yes, the pressure is gone for today. I'm sitting on my porch and watching the garden grow. Good for the soul.
Thanks for reading and laughing with me!

Rick: You are so sweet. I know I have to make a big decision. Bigger than that of any task at work. Job change! It is so hard to reinvent yourself. My goals are the same, but my ship of dreams is slowly becomming the Titanic. I will hold my head high though, even if I have to start selling shoes for a living. I like shoes!

Why, Thank you James! I needed that! LOL! Corporate Executive butt is a downfall in my job. It takes on the size and shape of your desk chair! But I'm working on it.

Two songs came to mind reading this:  Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire" and REM's "End Of The World"...  (with a little "9-To-5" thrown in, for good measure).  I think the US should do away with state penatentiaries and put them all in the corporate office environments instead -- guarantee you crime would go away!  (Nope -- I don't work in an office...  anymore.)

Hey Mark: One little note on R.E.M. "It's time I had some time alone". That felt right!
9-5, I'd like to turn some from a rooster to a hen, but I won't and Billy Joel...what a song writer. I think the Bardot, and Psycho called it. LOL. Office jobs are a lot harder than people think. I get "Well, all you do is sit at a desk all day!" I may need a straight jacket before long. Thanks for reply!

rwood, I loved it!!  Sounds like maybe this was written for the place I work at.  Wonderful ranting and raving here.  *s*

Gentle Spirit: Thank you for reading! I hope it's not so crazy for you. Hang in there or get a rope one!

Oh2beme: Thank you so much! I'm sure many can connect. However, do not try the above in real life! Unless you want to be fired. If you do want to be fired, then by all means, have at it.

Sven: Thanks for your reply! I'm so glad you see it that way. Some just pretend life is normal. What is normal?   I will find out in the Padded Cell some day.
