I can not touch you
Nor see the clouds in your eyes
As the days and nights pass

You in your world
Me in mine
I can hear you
In the words
And images painted
On this blank white
Temporary media

Feel the pains described
The heartaches
The joys
The love

Only second hand

Never first
Never quite real

I can’t touch you
To feel skin, Flesh and Bones
Or a heartbeat against mine
As held in arms that care
I try and soak up the tears
And fears…

And if I could
Resentment would soon follow,
Guilt eating like termites at
The framework of what you think
I am
Or should be

What we are
Or are not

The ideal…
One you never have to clean up after
Or scold or simply put up with in person
You only need to picture in your mind
What you think and want me to be

Build a world of dreams around it
And believe it
Until
Some struggle or imagined slight
Turns that into a nightmare

But hey…
There are a lot of people
A lot of places to indulge
A lot of lonely hearts reaching
For the same things
But always second
Never first

I hear you....and find that once again, you quietly, steadily, put forth common sense with a master's touch...

hmmm, I don't quite catch the gist of what you're saying here, unless it's "loving vicariously" perhaps.  I'm sure it's just me though.  There are some powerfully intriguing lines, for certain, Ron!!!

Lady: Thank you for the kind words... just rambling while thinking about what I have observed online..with peoples hearts and desires often colliding with reality.

VAS... as for an explanantion you are right... in your guess. Thanks for the comment!

Irish: Hey.. make next it will be grubs or worms... I wrote one about maggots one time (grinning) Never know what will show up next, do you? Thanks for taking time to read and to comment.

Thought-provoking -- definitely.  I especially like the graphic visual/metaphor of the termites -- that REALLY defines the sensation well.

Cpat...another great piece...sometimes though...a spoonfull of fantasy makes the reality go down...our second hand emotions help us at times...helen

Yes... I agree without fantasy we would at times be in dire need. The write is just a ramble of fantasy on my part... what of an online relationship..what of always being unable to physically communicate...what of the involvements some have with a spouse or other....disrupted... what could be the truth of such a situation... lots of what ifs... and as I said..a ramble..

Thanks for the nice words...and taking time to comment. It is appreciated
