Of all the things
I have wished for
in my life,
but did not do
my most regretted
is not standing face to face
with you, palm to palm
hands outstretched
ten of my fingertips
touching nine of yours,
pulling your hand
close and kissing the
tip that was missing…
Do you still remember
my friend, the time
you made me guess
how it became absent?
And how you laughed
when I guessed right and
said I cheated, that you
must have forgotten and told
me the story before.
Do you remember
the laughter and
how much fun we had?
I know our ways have parted
and yes it was hard
at first, but I am finally
finding my way.
I just needed you to know
that of all the things
I have wished for
in my life,
but did not do,
my most regretted
is not standing
face to face
with you.

This poem is not what I expected when I read the title - but I'm very glad I opened it.   In this world where so many of our dearest friends are across the world from us, you've written regrets I can relate to and written them very well.
